Company
History
Arno Goetz started his career in 1946 as an apprentice cotton linters trader at Reise & Company in New York City. He rapidly worked his way up the ladder, and in 1951, the owners made him President and asked him to relocate the company to Dallas, Texas.
Arno saw that the company needed to expand past its primarily European base in order to grow. So he established business relationships in Japan, South and Central America and soon took the company worldwide. In 1971, Arno Goetz bought out the owners and changed the company name to Goetz & Company.
His son Jacob joined the firm in 1977 after earning a Business degree from the University of Texas. Ten years later, Arno's son Dan joined after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with an MBA. In 1990, the company was renamed Goetz & Sons.
Jacob and Dan learned a lot from watching then working alongside their father for many years. Arno taught his sons the value of personal relationships and a good work ethic. Jacob and Dan now run Goetz & Sons with those family values firmly planted. Someday they hope to pass down Goetz & Sons to their own children.
